っておもいますが、「Can you keep secret?」

Most of you have probably read Sophie Kinsella's other books: Shopaholic et al. and Can you keep a secret. The first thought that struck me as I began to read the book was: "thank goodness, a heroine who has it together!" Samantha is unlike the other two heroines (Becky Bloomwood and Emma Corrigan) in that she's already smart and successful, all without a man by her side. She's a high powered lawyer in a top British firm and, even better, is up for partner. This story is more about Samantha's personal journey than the love story. Her love interest, the hot gardener, helps her in her transformation but in the end, she has to help herself out of her fix and make her own decisions about where she wants her life to go. The story is not too believable (can you really learn to cook that quickly? and how convenient that the garderner is hot and sweet!) but we don't really read these books for believable stories... we read them to escape from everyday life. So, although predictable and implausible, still a fun read with amusing characters that I enjoyed meeting. I think it's my favourite Kinsella so far, mainly because I didn't have a constant incessant urge to yell at the main character to stop shopping!
